2011 has saw some fantastic music floating through the ether and despite the sheer amount of it, I have managed to get this podcast out to you. To be fair, had we have done this podcast 3 weeks ago, the tracklist might have been different but thats the beauty of the music isn’t it?

There have been many local electronic artists that have graced the ranks of this humble podcast over the years, not to mention my student radio show before this. Suffice to say, some have stood the test of time and have been around this entire time. This reminds me of a story (segway much?) of me living in a skanky little Botanic flat back in 2005 - I was going to see a band called When Pilots Eject a lot and one of their members, Graham, started a small side project called Miracle Boy - I really liked it and told Graham as much leading to him sending me a CD. Then… no more.
Jump to 2011 and I’m booking the Solar Bears show in the Menagerie and I’m sitting thinking to myself, “Man, I wish Miracle Boy was still around, he’d be a great support for this”. So randomly, I emailed Graham and lo and behold he was working on some new stuff. He nervously accepted the gig and played a wonderful set - a set that was featured on Radio Ulster. So, as if by magic - we have him back in for a podcast session. Its awesome - enjoy it.

I have met a lot of people across the years - its kinda of a given that when you put yourself into the internet world like this, you tend to get the odd hello. Some years ago I came across a guy putting music out called Filaria - I met him and his name was David Baxter. I then met his counterpart Brian Greene - they had a band together called Kinnego Flux. Turned out I knew Brian’s dad. Small world. Then a few years after this, I met a bloke called Connor Dougan who you’ll all know a little bit better as Defcon.
Suffice to say, the common theme here was that these were three of the best musicians, composers and producers I had came across in this city. So when I heard that they had joined forces with a guy called Kaidi Tatham from world renowned Bugz in the Attic to form a jam band, I literally left the party I was at and went straight to the menagerie to record it.
I’ll say no more - its good stuff and pretty much jammed out only semi rehearsed. Get it listened to. Loadsa new tunes as well.

I moved to Belfast in 2004 and the city was really only starting to pick up - it seemed like a really slow start and there was a sheer lack of good electronic music shows. Well - it turned out there was a lack of good shows that I KNEW about. I remember we heard of these guys who ran a label called electrotoxic and we ended up going to a Wrong Music rave one of their guys was running. Turned out to be a 12 hour sesh and I believe I had a hollowed out computer monitor on my head at one stage.
Since then Acroplane has supplied me with some serious tunage and I featured them loads on my old QR radio show. Its with great pleasure that I help them celebrate their 5th birthday with an Acroplane mini mix in the podcast. Stellar.
