Cold Cave

When I got back from America last week, I got stuck into a few days of listening to some new music that I had noted/acquired over the weeks previous and I managed to get round to listening to Cold Cave. Having first grabbed the Hospital Producitons release Cremations I then moved onto new outing Love Comes Close released on their own imprint Heartworm Press.

The albums are quite different but both, in my opinion starkley brilliant. Cremations scrapes past with all the subtlety of a My Bloody Valentine abortion except the majority of the sounds are spat from over-gained, industrial synths. Love Comes Close has a cleaner feel to it, and feels more danceable and straight out pumping than its predecessor but at the same time, doesn’t lose that raw darkness and edgy feel.

Check out the two tracks below - Always Someone comes from the Cremation album while Love Comes Close is the title track from the album of the same name.

Don Hertzfeldt: Rejected Cartoons

Many of you have seen this already I am sure but I was watching it and had to post it.

In 1999, The Family Learning Channel commissioned Don Hertzfeldt to make some promotional cartoons for them and they were all unceremoniously rejected.

Enjoy.
