This year has seen somewhat reclusive filmmaker visual artist Chris Cunningham take to the stage for the first time since 2005 to perform “Chris Cunningham Live”.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the man’s work, he’s the guy who created such amazing music videos such as Aphex Twin’s “Come to Daddy” and Bjork’s “All is Full of Love”. Given his extensive work over the last few years, he’s clearly been able to package this all together and deliver what seems to be a really mind-blowing live experience so catch him live over the coming months if you can. As far as I can see he’s playing live at the Big Chill Festival which is on 6th-9th August and the Electric Picnic which takes place on 4th-6th of September.
Check out the footage below of part of his performance at the 5 Days Off festival in Amsterdam. Probably best to avoid it if you find experimental techno and rhythmic violence unsettling…
Acroplane continue to make great noise and the Belfast based netlabel have just dropped their 55th release in the form of the second Isocore solo album.
Isocore’s aim is to destroy music, destroy tempo, destroy. Strumming over hiphop reminiscent beats, battering keys like a 2 year kid would do to dancefloor anthems, Sugna is an intense experience…..
This is a cracking release so check out the sample below and grab the release for free from Acroplane.
Appppparently… According to some less that reputable sources I have, James “The Franco” Franco is in Belfast at the moment working on filming of the his new film Your Highness. The film is being shot entirely in the Titanic Paint hall down in the Titanic Quarter and if you have some free time and no shame, follow in the recent steps of our German friend Aarun who walked right into the paint hall and got a free tour.
If any of James Franco’s people are reading this - tell the man to give me a shout - we’ll show him a damn good night on the town.
